Members of the Fifth District’s newest lodge were hosts for the Institution Celebration that was held in Nashville on October 31, 2009. Lodge President Ken Sersland read a proclamation from Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen which declares that each October 9th will be designated Leif Erickson Day. more photos here

After meeting and greeting guests and visitors, everyone enjoyed a buffet luncheon. Musical entertainment was provided by “Joe Sun and Friends”. A special original song produced just for this event, Take Me Back was performed by the outstanding American and Norwegian performers.

The lodge officers were installed by District 5 President Mary Bennett with assistance from other District 5 Board Members. District 5 Treasurer Raymond Knutson read a letter of greetings from International President Dan Rude who was unable to attend in person. Remarks for the good of the order were offered by other District 5 Officers: Vice President Burt Bittner, Secretary Darlene Arneson and Publicity Director Duane Kittleson. Lodge President Ken Sersland announced that the charter will be held open until December 31, 2009. This means that all members who join this lodge by the end of the year will be charter members of Music City Viking (MCV).
