Sons of Norway District 5

After a recent recruiting event, the Woodville, Wisconsin Sons of Norway lodge signed 19 new adult and two younger, “Heritage,” members. The lodge also welcomed three transfer memberships.

Valkyrien Lodge hosted a membership dinner on Sunday evening at The Orchard restaurant in Baldwin.  Besides the prospective members, the special guest was Len Carlson, Director of Agencies, Sons of Norway.

Lodge Vice President Chuck Brictson, who organized the evening festivities, introduced Carlson.  Carlson briefly outlined the many financial investments available to members. He emphasized the stability of these various instruments, especially noteworthy during the recent unstable financial environment.

Following Carlson’s briefing, lodge member Don Olson described the Norwegian language classes he organized and conducts for other members.

Member Julie Backus and soon-to-be-member husband Lane presented the picture show they prepared to display the many heritage activities and community service projects Valkyrien Lodge members have and continue to be involved in.

Carlson capped the evening by presenting to three newly-signed members, after random drawing, first in the series, limited-edition collector Sons of Norway Christmas ornaments.

This short program followed a dinner of pork, or cod, selected from The Orchard’s menu. The lodge thanks The Orchard’s staff for a delicious meal, flawless and attentive service, and expert assistance with our audio-visual presentations.
